Making decisions in early pregnancy about what type of maternity care is best for you can be confusing. There are so many different options and it is not always clear what impact these choices have on your pregnancy care and your experience of labour and birth. Do you choose a public hospital, a midwifery model of care with a private midwife or a group practice. Have you been offered shared care with your GP? If you have private health insurance you may have been offered a referral to a private obstetrician with the option to birth at a private hospital? What does a doula do and do you need one? Do you know what impact these options have on your care during pregnancy or you birth experience? What about childbirth education? Should you go to the hospital classes or an independent workshop? Hypnobirthing, calmbirth, active birth, do you know the difference?
Nurturing Us is a collaboration between two Midwives. We are independent and provide unbiased information. We help to take the confusion out of those early pregnancy decisions. We want to help you choose a model of care that closely aligns with your view of pregnancy and birth one that is a good philosophical match. We want you to feel supported and part of all decisions involving you and your baby. Let us help you seek out a care-giver and a birth support team who respects your wishes as a birthing woman and with whom you have open and transparent communication.
